What is proofreading?
Proofreading is defined as reading and marking corrections. However, it is so much more than that. Proofreaders take into account a writers voice, tone, and style. We also look for mistakes in punctuation, grammar, spelling, and typos. We are the final pass through to make a piece of writing the best it can be!
Style Guides
I use multiple style guides depending on the type of content. The Chicago Manual of Style 17th and 18th edition are used for fiction novels, some academic papers, general emails, some transcripts, and some website content. The AP Style Guide is used for articles, blog posts, advertising content, some transcripts, and some website content. The APA style guide is used for some academic papers and other scientific writing. Each of these style guides has a coordinating dictionary.
